What is it really like to sell a company?
Over the next few months we are going to be covering the sale process from the point of view of a mythical – but hopefully typical – owner-manager! We will be covering a period from the initial interest in a sale, up to Completion.
In addition to the thousands of conversations we have had with owner managers, we have ourselves exited our own businesses. We will be able to present some of the more common experiences and also throw light on the underlying thinking.
It is not uncommon for owner managers to receive an expression of interest for their business and this is sometimes the catalyst for action. We therefore start Part 1 with just such a scenario.
