What our clients say

Prism provided practical advice and counselling on the sales process and procedures, ensuring we never felt alone or without the necessary experience to step through the sale. Just because I understood how to run a complex company, with a subsidiary in Sri Lanka, in the demanding world of IT, that did not provide the experience of selling a company. Peter and his team brought that very welcome experience.

I believe that adding Prism to our team very early in our decision making to sell the company ultimately produced outstanding value for the shareholders. A job well done.

About us

Prism Corporate Broking is a business broker, operating nationwide from offices near Cambridge. The business started as a subsidiary of Dipford Group plc, then an AIM listed company, but following a management buy out in 2005 is now independent.

We work primarily with owner managers, seeking to buy and sell controlling interests in businesses, typically within the £0.5m to £10m turnover range. Though we have experience in a wide range of sectors, we are increasingly focussing on the following:

Prism is much more than just a ‘matchmaker’. We provide extensive advice on preparation for sale, merger or acquisition, the identification and vetting of potential buyers or sellers, plus continued support and advice throughout the negotiations and transaction processes. We are well networked in the Corporate Finance world and have extensive databases to identify new opportunities.

We strive to offer a highly personal service to our clients and are always mindful that for many (sellers in particular) it may be the only time they ever go through such a process. Furthermore, the transaction may well be by far the biggest they ever undertake – not just in terms of consideration, but also in terms of emotional factors. Accordingly, we recognise their need for a ‘partner’ in the process who can variously act as adviser, negotiator, advocate (occasionally the devil’s!) and confidant. We couple our experience, sector knowledge and personal commitment in order to represent our clients with appropriate rigour and gravitas whilst providing the continuity that can be lacking in practices handling high transaction volumes.

Our approach is always about getting the best deal for each client dependent upon their individual requirements. This does not just mean the best headline figure, but is about getting the most appropriate deal structure also.

The team is headed by Peter Watson, a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience of mergers and acquisitions.
