Negotiation is an important part of achieving maximum value on business sale and as keen practitioners we are watching the Brexit manoeuvres with some interest.  Apparently, the UK negotiators turned up with an 100 strong delegation, nearly three times their counterparts. Meanwhile David Davis was pictured with no papers in front of him – in contrast to the European Commission negotiators.

Negotiating power can be derived from a number of sources – and being under resourced is rarely helpful. Similarly, proceeding sequentially from one issue to the next might be logical but often is not advantageous. The lack of an agenda in front of the UK delegation might yet therefore be a good sign.  We watch with interest if not a little apprehension!
