An acquirer is buying the future, so it is important to articulate a credible road map for the business.
A good question to ask yourself is how would you spend a £1m+ investment in the business? If you are unable to come up with a convincing investment strategy – why should your buyer want to invest?
Developing a product/service development roadmap can help with this. How would an investment help accelerate this? Could you develop the App that you have been considering but has a significant price tag? Similarly, could you scale up the sales/marketing functions to accelerate growth? If you have some credible metrics regarding the new business development process and the ability to create and convert leads, this could justify greater investment.
The more reassurance you can provide as to the future, the higher the valuation you are likely to achieve and the more attractive you will become.
