Your Very Own Statue!
Insights by Peter Watson.
John Caudwell, entrepreneur and former owner of Phones 4u, has been in the news again. A billionaire, he has been working on a £300m French riviera development – and as part of that has commissioned a £250k full-size marble statue of himself to overlook the properties!
Whatever the rights and wrongs of that, it got us thinking. What is the legacy that you want to leave your business? Is it simply a transaction vehicle, or does what happens when you leave really matter to you?
A strong, established culture is deeply embedded and provided you find a compatible acquirer, is probably the most enduring legacy of your period of ownership. Similarly, a clash of cultures will make life intolerable for the current employees – the best of whom will likely leave – and the fun will be over.
Understanding your culture and finding the right partner is an essential part of successful M&A, and probably rather cheaper (and a lot less ostentatious!) than putting up a statue in the car park!
To find out about this and generally how to sell your business for more than it is currently worth, why not come to our seminar being held in London later this month, titled “Maximise the Value of Your Tech Business“.
Running against the recent trend of webinars and returning to a tried-and-tested format that we have hosted many times in the past, this in-person event on 18th June will provide you with a vast amount of expert insight to help make your business more attractive to acquirers and increase its value. You will hear not only from the Prism M&A team, but we are also delighted to have three special guest speakers – a former tech business owner, an active tech business acquirer and an experienced corporate lawyer – who will share their own experiences and advice.
It will be an extremely beneficial session for those thinking about selling within the next few years.
Seats are limited so please do book today!
